Exam Categories
CAEB comprises five main categories that students can choose to join the examination based on their talents. Each category has different grades with respective requirements to achieve in order to pass the examination and obtain CAEB certification. This examination does not have age requirement however it is recommended to start from Age 4 and above.

The examination marking criteria are tailored to meet different fundamental requirements, varying across categories and grades as below. To successfully pass the examination and attain certification, candidates must meet four main criteria, each specific to their chosen category and grade level.

Creative Art
This examination category comprises three (3) grading levels, each with specific fundamental requirements for achievement. Candidates must start with Grade 1 and progress sequentially to the next level.

Creative Art (Grade 1) : Children’s Art
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to create and depict a main character that is in alignment with the given theme. This includes visually representing the character with physical attributes and characteristics that reflect the thematic elements effectively

Creative Art (Grade 2) : Children’s Art with Storyline
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to illustrate a central character, bringing it to life with physical attributes that align with the theme. Furthermore, they should elaborate on a detailed storyline that complements the character’s portrayal and thematic context

Creative Art (Grade 3) : Children’s Art with Storyline and Art Techniques
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to create and depict a main character that is in alignment with the given theme. This includes visually representing the character with physical attributes and characteristics that reflect the thematic elements effectively
Graphic Design
Within examination category for Graphic Design, there are two (2) grading levels, each with its own unique set of fundamental requirements for attainment. Candidates must initiate their progression by achieving Grade 1 before advancing to the subsequent levels in sequential order.

Graphic Design (Grade 1) : Poster Design with Typographic
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to design a poster integrating typography and conceptual elements in alignment with the given theme. This entails effectively utilizing typography to convey the message and visually representing conceptual elements that resonate with the theme, ensuring a cohesive and impactful design.

Graphic Design (Grade 2) : Commercial Design with Logo
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate should demonstrate the capability to create a commercial design encompassing a logo and a cohesive color theme tailored for various products, including but not limited to books, boxes, menus, bags, and others. This involves crafting visually appealing and brand-consistent designs that effectively communicate the product’s identity and resonate with the target audience across different mediums.
Comics & Manga
In Comics & Manga category of examination, there are three (3) levels of grading, each with its own set of fundamental requirements for achievement. Candidates must begin with Grade 1 before proceeding to the next level in sequence.

Comics & Manga (Grade 1) : Character Design
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to proficiently design and conceptualize a comics or manga character, providing a comprehensive representation with detailed features and a full-body depiction. This entails creating a character that embodies personality, distinctive traits, and visual appeal, ensuring attention to detail in anatomy, expression, costume, and any other relevant elements essential to the character’s narrative and visual impact.

Comics & Manga (Grade 2) : Background Design
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is required to design and conceptually craft a background scene featuring comics or manga characters. This involves creating a visually compelling environment that complements the narrative and enhances the story’s immersion. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in incorporating detailed elements such as setting, atmosphere, perspective, and context, ensuring coherence with the characters’ actions and the overall theme of the scene.

Comics & Manga (Grade 3) : Storyboard Design
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to create a comics or manga story comprising a minimum of six panels, each featuring word balloons to convey dialogue or narrative elements. This task entails conceptualizing a cohesive storyline with a clear beginning, middle, and end, as well as effectively utilizing visual storytelling techniques to engage the audience. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in panel composition, pacing, character expressions, and dialogue placement to ensure a compelling and coherent narrative flow.
Fine Art
This particular examination category offers two (2) distinct grading levels, each with its own unique criteria for accomplishment. To advance, candidates must first achieve Grade 1 before moving on to the subsequent levels in a sequential manner.

Fine Art (Grade 1) : Sketching
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is tasked with creating an illustration that reflects the choosen theme, employing sketching techniques with a focus on shading, texture, and detail. Through their drawing, they must exhibit skillful execution and bring the subject matter to life while adhering to the designated color mode, showcasing both technical proficiency and creative expression across different mediums.

Fine Art (Grade 2) : Acrylic Painting
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate must illustrate a drawing according to the theme, employing painting techniques with acrylic paint in any color mode. They should showcase proficiency in color blending, layering, and texture application to effectively convey the theme.

Fine Art (Grade 3) : Water Colour Painting
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in painting techniques using watercolor paint to illustrate a themed drawing. They must effectively apply techniques such as color mixing, washes, and layering to bring the theme to life on the canvas, showcasing their creativity and skill in utilizing watercolor in any color mode.
Modeling Craft
This particular examination category offers two (2) distinct grading levels, each with its own unique criteria for accomplishment. To advance, candidates must first achieve Grade 1 before moving on to the subsequent levels in a sequential manner.

Modelling Craft (Grade 1) : 2D Modelling Craft
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is expected to construct and showcase creativity through a 2-dimensional (2D) crafts masterpiece, emphasizing attention to detail and the effective integration of mixed media aligned with the chosen theme.

3D Soft Toy Craft (Grade 2)
Fundamental Requirement:
The candidate is tasked to create a three-dimensional (3D) soft toy that demonstrates creativity, meticulous attention to detail, and effective use of mixed media. The size of the craft must be within the dimensions of 25cm X 30cm X 25 cm.
Recommended material as based: Socks, gloves, cloth, Felt stuffed with cotton, paper, plastic & etc.

Modelling Craft (Grade 3): 3D Clay Craft
Fundamental Requirement:
Create a three-dimensional (3D) clay model that includes cultural elements from a specific country. Complete the artwork in alignment with the given theme.
